Founded by contractors and developers, Olmeck was born to solve a major point of frustration: roofing solutions were either short-lasting, cumbersome, leaky, or all of the above. What does OLMECK mean?

Anything that has stood the test of time is, by definition, long-lasting, strong, durable, flexible, resistant, valuable, and worth exploring.

The Olmec people of Mesoamerica used forms of rubber as early as 3,600 years ago. Among other things, they made rubber balls for their sporting events. The name Olmec is rooted in two Nahuatl words: ōlli meaning “natural rubber”, and mēcatl, meaning “people.” The Olmecs were, quite literally, the “rubber people”.

We believe that any material to withstand more than three millennia of beta testing could offer immense value today.
